Same-day Mumbai: how a charter day actually works — editorial image

Delhi to Mumbai is the most requested sector we quote, and it is almost always the same brief: be there for the morning, be home for the night. It is a straightforward day, but it is worth knowing where the pressure points are before you plan around it.

The shape of the day

Block time is about two hours ten minutes each way. An early departure from Delhi puts you in Mumbai with the morning intact. A late-afternoon or evening return gets you home the same night, which is the part that makes the exercise worth doing at all.

What the schedule is built backwards from is not the departure time. It is the time you actually need to be in the room. Tell us that, and the rest of the day is arranged around it.

Where you actually land

You arrive at the general aviation terminal, which is a different building from the one you know, with a different entrance and a considerably shorter walk. Ground transfer is arranged by the same desk that arranged the flight, so the car is where the aircraft is rather than at a pickup bay on the far side of the airport.

What can move the plan

Mumbai is one of the busiest and most slot-constrained airports in the country. Departure and arrival slots are real constraints, not formalities, and a request made the evening before does not have the same options as one made with a few days' notice.

Air traffic control can hold aircraft on the ground. Weather closes airfields, particularly in the monsoon months. Some airports carry night-landing restrictions. A private flight removes the queue and the connection; it does not remove any of this, and an operator who implies otherwise is describing a service they cannot deliver.

What we need from you

The date, the number of passengers, the time you need to be on the ground in Mumbai, and whether you are returning the same day. Passenger names and identity details are needed before we file. That is genuinely the whole list — the clearances, the slots, the handling and the ground movements are ours to solve.
